World War II | Review Lesson
Students review very simple economics ideas using familiar examples from home and school, such as needs, wants, jobs, goods, and services. The lesson is kept concrete, visual, and discussion-based for kindergarten learners.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Need | Something people must have, like food, water, or a home. |
| Want | Something people would like to have, but do not need to live. |
| Job | Work that people do to earn money. |
| Goods | Things people can buy or use, like toys or food. |
| Services | Help people give to others, like a haircut or a doctor visit. |
Show a few picture cards and ask, 'Do we need this or want this?' Let students answer by thumbs up, thumbs down, or pointing.
Look at pictures, respond orally or with gestures, and share simple examples from their own lives.
Review each vocabulary word with a picture and a short sentence. Model one example for needs and one for wants, and explain that jobs help people earn money to buy goods and services.
Repeat key words, listen, and answer simple questions.
Place picture cards one at a time and invite students to help sort them onto NEEDS or WANTS mats. Talk through each choice aloud.
Help sort the cards and explain choices with one short sentence if able.
Pair students and give each pair a card with a job, good, or service. Ask them to act it out or tell what it is. Circulate and support language use.
Work with a partner to name or act out the card and listen to classmates.
Give a quick draw-and-label task: students draw one need and one want, or circle a picture the teacher names.
Complete the simple review task independently.
Review the words need, want, job, goods, and services. Ask: 'Tell me one thing you learned today about economics.'
Share one vocabulary word or idea and listen to the class review.
End with a quick whole-class review chant: 'Needs are important, wants are extra, jobs help people, goods are things, services are help!'
