Greet students, take attendance, and write the title and objective on the board. Ask: 'What art words do you already know?' Accept a few quick responses.
Share prior knowledge and listen to the lesson focus.
Read each vocabulary term aloud, give a short definition, and point to a simple sketch or example if available. Have students repeat the term and definition with you.
Repeat terms, listen, and ask questions if needed.
Say a definition and have students hold up fingers, write the matching term, or call out the answer. If using paper, students can match terms and definitions on a quick worksheet or scrap paper.
Match terms to definitions and discuss answers with a partner or the class.
Ask students to write one sentence using any two vocabulary words correctly. Collect responses before students leave.
Write a sentence and turn it in for assessment.
Review the vocabulary by asking the class to name one term they learned and one example they noticed. End by praising effort and reminding students that art vocabulary helps them describe and understand artwork.
Formative assessment will be based on student responses during the matching activity and the exit sentence using correct art vocabulary.
