Geography | Review Lesson
Students review key geography concepts and connect them to how people use land, water, climate, and resources. The lesson is designed as a challenging review with short teacher input, guided practice, and independent application using maps and scenario questions.

|---|---|
| continent | One of the large land masses on Earth. |
| region | An area with shared features such as climate, landforms, or culture. |
| physical features | Natural parts of Earth’s surface such as mountains, rivers, and plains. |
| climate | The usual weather pattern of a place over time. |

Display a map and ask students to label or identify three features such as a river, mountain range, and plain.
Individually complete the warm-up and then quickly check answers with a partner.
Briefly review how geography affects settlement, transportation, farming, and trade. Model one example using a region with a river and fertile land.
Listen, take notes, and answer short oral questions.
Give students scenario cards or questions that require them to match geographic features to likely human activities.
In pairs, sort and justify answers using evidence from maps and vocabulary.
Provide a comparison prompt: two regions with different climates or landforms. Circulate and prompt deeper thinking.
Independently write a short comparison explaining how geography would shape settlement, jobs, and transportation in each region.
Lead a discussion, asking students to share strong comparisons and correct misconceptions.
Share responses, listen to peers, and revise ideas as needed.
Ask students to complete a quick oral recap: 'One geography idea I understand well is...' and 'One connection between geography and history is...'
Respond verbally or in writing and submit their exit slip.
Summarize that geography helps explain where people live, how they travel, what they produce, and why places develop differently. Reinforce the main idea that physical features and climate influence historical patterns.
Complete a one-page geography review sheet: label a map, define five vocabulary words, and write three sentences explaining how geography can affect settlement and trade.
