Plants | Centers

Show a plant or plant picture. Briefly review plant parts and explain that students will visit centers to explore how plants grow.
Listen, share quick ideas, and get ready for centers.
Set out plant part cards and pictures. Model one match and explain that students should match each part to its name.
Work with a partner to match plant parts and check their work.
Provide picture cards showing water, sunlight, air, and soil. Ask students to sort the items into 'needed' and 'not needed' piles or place them on a chart.
Sort the cards and talk about why plants need each item.
Give students seeds or seed packets. Ask them to observe size, color, and shape, then draw what they see.
Look closely, draw the seed, and label one or two features.
Provide cut-out pictures of seed, sprout, plant, and flower. Model placing them in order.
Put the pictures in the correct order and explain the sequence to a partner.
Bring the class together and review the centers. Ask a few students to share one fact they learned.
Share one observation or idea from a center.
End with a brief class recap: plants have different parts, and they need water, sunlight, air, and soil to grow. Ask students to give one new fact they learned before cleaning up.
