Listen, name animals they know, and repeat movement words.
Place animal cards in a mixed pile. Model sorting one card onto the correct movement mat.
Work in pairs to sort animal cards by walk, hop, swim, fly, or crawl.
Call out an animal or show a card. Demonstrate how to safely move like that animal.
Mimic animal movements around their space or at their table, then return to seated positions.
Give students a simple worksheet or paper with animal pictures and movement words.
Draw a line, color, or glue matching animals to the correct movement word.
Invite a few students to share one animal and how it moves. Review the vocabulary together.
Explain one match or movement using a complete sentence.
End by having the class name one animal and one way it moves. Review the words walk, hop, swim, fly, and crawl together.
Send home a simple animal movement sheet. Students choose three animals and tell a family member how each animal moves, then draw one of the animals.
