Electricity | Review Lesson
Students review basic electricity ideas through simple, unplugged coding practice. They will use step-by-step directions to show how electricity flows in a circuit and identify safe choices around electricity.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| electricity | A form of energy that helps things work, like lights and machines. |
| circuit | A complete path that electricity can travel through. |
| sequence | The steps in the correct order. |
| safe | Not dangerous; a good choice around electricity. |
Ask quick review questions: What does electricity help power? What do we do before touching plugs or outlets?
Answer aloud and point to safe or unsafe choices when shown pictures.
Show a simple circuit picture and explain that electricity needs a complete path. Model a coding sequence using arrows: start at battery, go to wire, bulb, and back to battery.
Watch, repeat key words, and trace the path with a finger.
Place 3 to 4 picture cards in mixed order. Ask students to help code the correct order for a working circuit and fix one broken circuit.
Work with the teacher to arrange the cards in order and say the steps aloud.
Give a quick oral prompt such as: 'Code the steps to make the light work' or 'Find the safe choice.'
Turn and tell a partner the correct sequence or safe choice.
Ask each student to name one electricity fact or point to the correct circuit.
Respond orally or by pointing to show understanding.
Review the big idea: electricity follows a path, and coding helps us show the steps in the right order. End by saying, 'First, next, last' together.
Teacher observation during guided practice and exit check to confirm students can identify a simple circuit, sequence steps, and choose a safe action around electricity.
