Show 3-4 animal pictures and name them aloud. Briefly review the words animal, land animal, water animal, and air animal.
Point to each animal and repeat the names and vocabulary words.
Explain the task: students will sort animals into groups and label or color them on their own.
Listen, ask questions if needed, and get materials ready.
Circulate quietly to support students as needed. Prompt students to look at each animal and decide where it belongs.
Sort, match, color, or glue animals into the correct groups independently.
Ask a few students to share one animal and explain why they placed it in a group.
Share answers and listen to classmates.
Signal cleanup and collect materials.
Put away supplies and clear desks.
Review the main idea: animals can be grouped by where they live and how they move. Praise students for working independently.
Draw your favorite animal and write one sentence about where it lives.
