Story Elements | Review Lesson
This 75-minute review lesson helps Grade 10 students identify and explain the key story elements in a short text: plot, character, setting, conflict, and theme. Students will review each element, practice finding evidence in a reading, and complete a brief assessment to show understanding.

Circulate, prompt thinking, and clarify misunderstandings.
In pairs, complete a second set of story element questions using a different passage or the same text.
Distribute a short assessment or exit ticket covering all five story elements.
Individually complete the assessment without help.
Go over answers quickly and highlight common strengths and errors.

Students share one story element they feel confident identifying and one they still need to practice. The teacher reinforces the key idea that strong readers use text evidence to explain story elements.
Students complete a short exit ticket or quiz identifying plot, character, setting, conflict, and theme from a short passage and supporting at least two answers with evidence.
