Ask students what a good citizen does at school or at home. Record ideas such as helping, sharing, and following rules. Connect this to using technology.
Turn and talk, then share simple examples of good citizenship in everyday life.
Explain that digital citizenship means using technology safely, kindly, and responsibly. Model 3 easy rules: be kind, keep information private, and ask an adult when unsure. Show one example and one non-example for each.
Listen, repeat the key idea, and answer quick yes/no questions.
Give students a worksheet or set of scenario cards. Students independently sort or mark examples as safe/kind/responsible or not. Circulate and support as needed.
Work independently to choose the best action for each situation.
Ask students to draw a picture or complete the sentence, 'A good digital citizen...' Collect responses to check understanding.
Create one personal digital citizenship rule using a picture, words, or both.
Invite a few students to share their rule or a scenario answer. Clarify any misconceptions and reinforce correct ideas.
Share one answer and listen to classmates.
Ask each student to say or write one way to be a good digital citizen before leaving.
Respond with one simple idea.
Review the class definition: A digital citizen uses technology safely, kindly, and responsibly. Ask students to whisper one rule they will remember when using devices.
Students will be assessed through the independent sorting activity, the personal rule drawing/writing task, and the exit check. Look for correct identification of safe, kind, and responsible behaviors.
